Employee Stories: Grace’s career journey from Trainee Nurse to TCO
Grace is one of our fantastic Apprentice Nurses at Hopkins & Poyner Dental Practice, progressing through her dentistry career and progressing rapidly through the practice.
Grace has transitioned, progressed and grown into a confident skilled dental care professional over her time at Hopkins & Poyner Dental. Grace joined the team in 2022 as a Trainee Dental Nurse with no experience in the dental field; with the support of the Practice Manager, her training provider and the senior team, Grace has been given the skills and support to grow both professionally and personally.
After finishing school, Grace went straight into work, working in a customer-facing position within retail – she also set up a social media and marketing agency. From this, Grace knew she wanted to follow a career path which helped and supported people. Grace saw a job ad for an Apprentice Nurse at Hopkins & Poyner Dental and thought this would be a great start to a new career.
Over her time at the practice, Grace developed a passion for private dentistry… Seeing the patient’s smile makeover results and the impact it had on their confidence – this is what pushed Grace into starting as a practice Treatment Coordinator.
Grace offers support, guidance and information to patients looking at enhancing or improving their oral health. Grace has been the go-to person in practice to support our Implant and Invisalign pathways. Grace lives and breathes our group values and is quickly becoming a fantastic leader in the practice, her long-term progression is to move into a more senior TCO role supporting and leading other TCOS in the group.
Grace, said: “The level of support I’ve had from my practice manager and regional TCO has helped me get to where I am today, it has been amazing to get their advice, training and support – thank you to The Dental Team Group for allowing me to be in control of my career journey and giving me the confidence to pursue!”
